Events That
Tell a Story

Nariman Point parties have
more colleagues than cousins.
A Trident or Oberoi ballroom with finance heads, founders, and corporate guests is a room that rewards composure, not stage volume.
A birthday party in Nariman Point has a specific kind of guest list. There are the finance directors from the office towers along Marine Drive, the founders the host has worked with, the corporate leads from the Trident or Oberoi side of the building, plus the family who has known the host since childhood. The room is composed by default, and a host who tries to force energy by raising the mic gets read as someone who has not done this before.
The Trident and the Oberoi do not give a host much room for sloppy work either. Both run on a tight banqueting clock, and the AV teams expect a clean cue sheet 48 hours out. Divya gets the script and the cue list across well in advance, walks the room with the duty manager, and runs the evening so the cake comes out before the kitchen starts setting up for the morning. The personal story is what carries the evening, but the operations are what makes the personal story land properly.

Two birthday parties
Divya has hosted in Nariman Point
A 50th for a finance head, with most of his bank’s senior leadership in the room.
The host had spent 22 years climbing through the same investment bank, and his guest list was heavy with the directors and managing directors who had hired and promoted him at different points. About 140 people, and a tone that started somewhere between a year-end town hall and a polite cocktail.
“Divya opened with a story from the host’s first month on the job in 1998, when he had nearly quit because his MD made him redo a deck four times in one evening, and built the toast for him around that.”
The MD in question, now retired and sitting at table four, stood up to add his side of the same story. By the second course, the bank leadership and the host’s family had stopped sitting in separate clusters, and a couple of his college friends, who almost never get to meet his work crowd, said it was the most relaxed they had seen any of his colleagues in years.
The tribute video laptop froze, sixty seconds before the surprise reveal.
A 60th at a sea-view suite with about 90 guests. The family had a 14-minute tribute video lined up, with cameos from old colleagues and a final clip from the host’s elder brother who had not been able to fly in. About a minute before the play cue, the laptop running it froze. The brother’s clip was the emotional heart of the evening.
“Divya stepped forward from the side of the room, asked the host’s two oldest friends to come up, and ran an unscripted live toast round with three or four people in quick succession while the AV team rebooted the laptop.”
The live segment ran about eight minutes, and the laptop came back about thirty seconds before her last toast finished. The video then played clean from the start, and a guest later said the live segment had actually made the brother’s clip hit harder when it came up, because by then the whole room was paying attention in a way they would not have been if the video had just played cold.
What she brings to
your family birthday party
Three things that matter at a Nariman Point evening.
Holds a corporate room with composure
The Trident and the Oberoi reward an anchor who can hold a room of 150 with a normal speaking voice. Divya does not shout, and the corporate guests actually settle in because of it.
Switches languages on the fly
Nariman Point parties have global colleagues and older family members in the same room. Divya moves between English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi without breaking the conversation flow.
Runs the schedule to the banqueting clock
Five-star venues run hard cut-offs. Divya tracks the floor tempo live and adjusts the order of segments so the cake comes out before the venue starts reset for the morning shift.

Questions Nariman Point families ask first
Straight answers, no hedging on the details.
A lot of Nariman Point birthdays have more colleagues than relatives in the room. Divya’s running order opens with personal family history first, threads the professional story in as context later, and uses crowd-work that pulls relatives and colleagues into the same conversation instead of keeping them on separate tracks.
The Trident Nariman Point and The Oberoi are the regulars. She has also hosted at private sea-facing suites along Marine Drive and at members-only club rooms in the NCPA area.
The five-star banqueting teams at Trident and Oberoi run on their own clean process. Divya gets the AV cue sheet to the venue at least 48 hours before the date, walks the room with the duty manager about 90 minutes before doors, and stays in sync with the banqueting captain through the evening for the dining and cake-cutting transitions.
Long unscheduled segments are common at corporate-heavy birthdays. Divya tracks the floor tempo live and trims the secondary segments, like the games or smaller interaction blocks, so the cake-cutting and dinner still come out at the right time.
Yes. Most Nariman Point milestone birthdays have a host with a long career story worth pulling into the evening. Divya writes career-aware roasts that the host’s family and old colleagues both find funny, and clears anything sensitive with the family before the date.
